PT.Asuransi Purna Artanugraha or Asuransi ASPAN was incorporated on June 10th, 1991. Asuransi ASPAN licenses issued by Departemen Keuangan R.I through decision later No. 155/KM.13/1992 dated May 23rd, 1992 with business activities in the field of Insurance.
The founding of Asuransi ASPAN background by the desire of Yayasan Kesehatan Pensiunan PT. PELNI and Dana Pensiun PT. PELNI to be able to improve the welfare of its members and its environment. The desire was welcomed by management of PT. PELNI then stood Asuransi ASPAN in 1991. At first Asuransi ASPAN business only handles personal accident PT. PELNI passenger ship, then developed in accordance with the current portfolio of such businesses.
During its development, Asuransi ASPAN seeks to strengthen the company's capital structure by increasing the paid up capital of the company. This was realized in the Rapat Umum Pemegang Saham Luar Biasa on December 16th, 1997 and decided that the company paid up capital increased from Rp. 3 billion to Rp. 15 billion. The meeting also decided on the basis of budget changes throughout the company in accordance with Law of the Republic of Indonesia No. 1 of 1995 on Limited Liability Companies.
In early 2004, the company paid in capital increased to Rp 25 billion. Increase in paid-up capital is done gradually to suit the architectural landscape of the national insurance paid up capital of Rp 100 billion in 2010 for the insurance company established by the government.
